Development - Downloading Logos in png with transparency?

Am I correct in saying that logos uploaded in PNG format with a transparent background are converted to jpeg with a solid background? And if so, is there anyway to get the original PNGs?

I usually go to TMDB or FanArtTV for good PNG logos
