There is a tag called recalled. Here you can see some of the reasons why they were recalled

Pulp Fiction: In one of the versions there is a Lucky Strike sigaret back lying on the bed. This was done without any autorisation from Lucky Strike and had to be recalled.

Spider-man 2: The Two Towers can be seen reflected in Spider-mans eyes. After 9-11 it was decided to recall it.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi: The original title of this movie was Revenge of the Jedi. Lucas later noticed that this wasn't that good of a title because revenge isn't rely what being a Jedi is all about. A few posters had already been released to theaters and were recalled. Now they are very hard to get and very expensive.

Austin Powers in Goldmember: MGM wasn't to happy about the title of this one. They said that New Line Cinema was violating copyrights because the title was to similar to the James Bond film Goldfinger. All trailers and posters were recalled and then they later settled with some kind of an agreement.

Dick Tracy: I don't recall who, but someone wasn't happy about the tagline of this one "Mind if I call you Dick" so it was recalled.

Ju-on: The title Grudge was removed so that people wouldn't confuse it with the American version of the film being released at the same time.

Sidewalks Of New York: On of these posters where you can see The World Trade Center. It was recalled after 9-11.

All of this is written down by memory, so some might have some wrong facts. Sorry.

Great thread. I think it's lame they recall posters which includes the twin towers in them. Let's now just forget the towers or what? They did exist, didn't they?

Well, I guess it was just in that moment, as it was a bad one to see the towers when going to see a movie. It's not just a thing of respect... it's economy. Twin towers started to be a bad thing to sell entertainment.

Anyway, I hate it, as Twin Towers Trailer for Spiderman, that was great, wasn't even included on the DVD. It was pure Spiderman... But, we will always have internet, youtube, emule... and people that shares them.

Skins

It was considered incorrect for showing underage sex in an orgy, as well as disturbing, and for that, unsuitable for children. Another poster recalled for that series, because of disturbind, as unclear whether he was dead or alive and could be copied by children:

This “Deadline” poster, featuring Brittany Murphy looking lifeless in a bathtub, was recalled after her death.

The studio recalled this Usual Suspects poster, after realizing it shows Kevin Spacey wearing a bracelet/watch on his right wrist, which gives away the surprise ending. It was airbrushed from future posters.

Recalled Catwoman “IMAX” poster. It was never released in IMAX.

The Hannibal quad was recalled because it was too gruesome!

The studio withdrew this “gun” version of Juice. Like there are no posters with guns on them!
